Source Map - Understanding geographical product life for consumption & production awareness

I came accross this new platform : Source Map, and found it very compeling ! They use the power of UGC (User Generated Content - like videos on Youtube) and the power of augmented maps, to bring an understanding of products life cycles.

What information :

They show on maps where the differents elements of a product come from, and then where it is assembled & manufactured, where it is distributed & finally dumped !

What added value :

This brings awareness towards smarter consumption and production for suppliers !
